Fighting for Reliable Power, Health Innovation, and Consumer Freedom

[firstname],

From strengthening our electric grid to advancing the future of health care, June has been filled with major policy victories that will directly benefit Ohioans. I’m proud to share just a few highlights of the work I'm doing in Washington to deliver results for Ohio's 12th District.

Secretary Kennedy on the Hill

Improving the health and well-being of Ohioans in creative and forward-thinking ways continues to be one of my top priorities. As co-chair of the Congressional Digital Health Caucus, I’ve worked to expand access to telehealth services and champion innovative tools that bring high-quality, affordable care directly to patients—whether they’re in a clinic or at home.

One of the most promising developments in this space is the rise of wearable health technology—everything from smart rings to fitness bands and biometric trackers. These tools are giving people greater control over their own health data and helping providers deliver more personalized, proactive care.

Last week, I raised this issue directly with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during a subcommittee hearing. He responded with overwhelming support for the expansion of wearables and applauded the power of technology to improve health outcomes and lower costs. [WATCH HERE]

Reining in Biden-Era Overreach

I stood alongside EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and fellow members of Congress to announce a proposal to roll back harmful regulations that would drive up costs. By repealing Biden-era rules targeting fossil fuel-fired power plants, we can prevent premature closures, maintain baseload capacity, and ensure energy stays affordable and dependable for every American.

Specifically, Administrator Zeldin announced the repeal of the so-called Clean Power Plan 2.0—a disastrous rule that would have forced the early retirement of some of America’s most critical power plants. Last year, I worked with Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia to introduce a congressional resolution to block this rule, and earlier this year, I led legislation to formally nullify it.

These actions remove over $1 billion in annual regulatory burdens and ensure America's baseload energy is protected.

Defending Americans from EV Mandates

I was proud to join President Trump at the White House this month as he signed three resolutions to repeal California’s extreme electric vehicle mandates. These rules would have banned gas-powered car sales by 2035 and forced zero-emission truck mandates on the rest of the country—driving up costs, limiting consumer choice, and threatening American auto jobs.

Ohio families shouldn't be forced to follow California’s energy agenda. These mandates would have raised prices on new and used vehicles, strained our electric grid, and deepened our reliance on China for critical minerals.

The repeal restores a single national standard, protects the freedom to choose the vehicles that work best for families and businesses, and ensures the U.S.—not China—leads the future of American transportation.

Securing America’s Electric Grid

This month, two pieces of legislation I introduced—the Reliable Power Act and the GRID Power Act—cleared a key hurdle by gaining approval from the House Energy and Commerce Committee. These bills are designed to give grid operators the tools they need to deliver affordable, reliable electricity to Ohio families and businesses.

As demand surges across the country, our grid must be ready. These bipartisan bills prioritize dispatchable, dependable power sources and speed up the connection of new generation resources—cutting wait times from five years to under 12 months.

Next stop for these bills: the House floor.
