Standing Up for Ohio’s Energy Future
This week, I joined President Trump at the White House as he signed executive orders to support American coal and energy reliability. These actions come at a critical time: Ohio is facing an unprecedented surge in electricity demand, driven in part by the rapid growth of data centers and industrial users.
The reality is this: our baseload power—especially coal and natural gas—remains essential to keeping the lights on. That’s why I was proud to introduce legislation to nullify the Biden Administration’s “Clean Power Plan 2.0,” an extreme regulation that would force the premature retirement of our most reliable power plants.
This EPA rule imposes unworkable emissions requirements on coal and natural gas plants, threatening the stability of the grid and driving up costs for families and businesses at a time of an unprecedented surge in demand. Central Ohio alone is projected to double its power demand by 2028.
Now is not the time to remove our most dependable energy sources from the mix.
