Balderson to Biden: 'The U.S. Needs a Serious Plan for Restoring Energy Independence, Lowering Prices'
Washington, D.C.,
October 19, 2022
Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) today issued the following statement in response to the Administration's release of a so-called "plan" that leaves open the prospect of no new oil and gas leasing for the next five years:
"This move only serves to further destabilize the market and deter long-term investment. It is an insult to hardworking Americans already struggling to heat their homes and fill up their cars. "Ignoring pleas from the Biden Administration, OPEC has announced further production cuts, which will inevitably contribute to higher prices. This is the consequence of negotiating from a position of weakness. It's time to change course. "Increasing production here at home and lessening our reliance on foreign producers is the only surefire way to drive down costs and bolster American energy security. "Since day one, my colleagues and I have repeatedly called on the Biden Administration to abandon the destructive Green New Deal policies that are intent on stifling U.S. oil and gas production. We need an all-of-the-above approach to addressing rising energy prices - one that includes clean, safe, and reliable offshore oil and gas leasing."
