NEWARK, OH - U.S. Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) joined Sheriff Randy Thorp and Clerk of Courts Olivia Parkinson on Thursday to pay a surprise visit in celebration Mark Weiner's 30 years of service as the Licking County Victim Advocate.

"When tragedy strikes, the people of Licking County are blessed to have a champion like Mark Weiner in their corner," said Congressman Troy Balderson. "For three decades now, Mark has been a steady and compassionate advocate for individuals in times of crisis."

As the Licking County Victim Advocate, Mark Weiner provides services for victims and witnesses of violent crimes, fatal crashes, and other tragedies. Weiner was first called to serve as a victim service volunteer in 1990 while in college, before landing a full-time position with Licking County upon graduation.

During the surprise visit, Congressman Balderson presented Weiner with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in recognition of his 30 years of service.

Weiner is a lifelong Johnstown-area resident, where he resides with his wife, Christie, and daughter, Faith.
