Balderson Applauds Approval of Federal Flood Relief for Ohio Communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) applauded President Donald Trump’s approval of a major disaster declaration for Ohio, making federal assistance available to communities impacted by devastating storms and flooding that moved through the state from August 10-23, 2026.

The declaration, made this afternoon, follows Governor Mike DeWine’s September 2 request and Balderson’s letter to President Trump urging the administration to quickly approve the request. Balderson has also worked with federal, state, and local officials throughout the disaster declaration process to help Ohio communities access the resources they need to recover.

“After weeks of working with the Governor, FEMA, and local officials, I’m grateful President Trump approved Ohio’s major disaster declaration,” said Balderson. “This federal assistance will help families, businesses, and communities across Ohio begin rebuilding after these devastating storms. Our work isn’t over—I will continue working to make sure my constituents have access to every resource available to them as they recover.”

The declaration makes federal assistance available to eligible individuals and communities in the affected areas, including assistance for disaster-related needs, temporary sheltering, hazard mitigation, and small business recovery
