Balderson Named Vice Chairman of Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) has been named the next Vice Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. The subcommittee’s primary responsibility is to conduct oversight of agencies, departments, and programs within the jurisdiction of the full committee. Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-6) will serve as Chairman of the subcommittee.

“After four disastrous years of the Biden Administration, Americans are left with a federal bureaucracy built to work against them,” said Balderson. “Government weaponization and the politicization of public policy has led to departments and agencies in Washington abandoning and antagonizing American families and businesses. As the Vice Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, I look forward to working with Subcommittee Chairman Palmer and my Energy and Commerce colleagues to ensure the federal government is held accountable and truly serves the interests of the American people.”

“I look forward to working with Congressman Balderson in his new role as Vice Chair of the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee,” said Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman-Elect Brett Guthrie (KY-2). “Congressman Balderson has shown a commitment to aggressive oversight and transparency of the Biden administration and thoroughly examining complex topics facing the American people. Troy knows firsthand the impact heavy-handed government has on communities across the country. I know he will bring this same commitment to the subcommittee. I look forward to working with Troy to ensure appropriate congressional oversight to ensure taxpayer dollars and our government work for the American people.”

“Congratulations to Congressman Balderson on being selected as Vice Chair for the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee,” said Congressman Palmer. “He will do an excellent job as Vice Chair. I look forward to working with him for the good of the American people.”

Balderson has served on the Energy and Commerce Committee since January 2023 and will also serve as the Chairman of the House Energy Action Team in the 119th Congress, beginning January 3, 2025.
