Balderson: Deal Will Help Keep America Running

  • Capitol

WASHINGTON – Congressman Troy Balderson (R-OH) is applauding Senate passage of H.R. 266, the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act, a bipartisan, bicameral deal that delivers supplemental COVID-19 relief. This phase 3.5 deal replenishes funds for the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, hospitals and health care providers nationwide, and COVID-19 testing development and capacity in every state.

“Across the country, Americans are waking up every day, putting on protective gear, and risking their lives to save their neighbors and families from this disease. Many others are facing uncertainty about the future of their small businesses, yet they continue to deliver goods and services for our communities, because that’s what Americans do,” said Balderson. “In providing support to America’s small businesses and frontline workers, this deal will be fundamental in keeping our country running.”

Phase 3.5 provides supplemental funds to programs established and bolstered by the Balderson-supported CARES Act, including:

  • $310 Billion for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)
  • $60 Billion for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, including both loans and grants
  • $75 Billion directly to hospitals and health care providers
  • $25 Billion for COVID-19 testing

Following passage in the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representative is expected to vote on the legislation Thursday, April 23.
