Balderson Efforts Help Deliver $121 Million to Central Ohio Hospitals, Providers to Fight COVID-19

WASHINGTON – Hospitals across Central Ohio so far have received more than $121 Million as a direct result of actions taken by Congressman Troy Balderson (R-OH). The 12th Congressional District representative traveled to Washington, D.C. multiple times last month to help facilitate the passage of key legislation delivering coronavirus (COVID-19) relief, including the CARES Act, and advocated to congressional leaders and federal agencies in support of direct funding to Central Ohio hospitals and care providers, including children’s and rural hospitals.

“In the face of this unthinkable pandemic, Ohio’s care providers need support to fight the battle against coronavirus and continue providing care to our families,” said Balderson. “Helping secure this funding is foundational to the protection of our community, and one of the many ways I’ve worked to support Central Ohio’s care providers throughout this pandemic.”

The CARES Act, phase 3 of the COVID-19 relief packages, made available $100 Billion in direct funding to hospitals and care providers to confront the pandemic. From the first wave of $30 Billion distributed, hospitals and providers in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District received $121,341,409.83, more than any other congressional district in Ohio. The remaining $70 Billion is in the process of being distributed.

Balderson pushed to include $100 Billion of direct funding to hospitals and providers in the CARES Act, which was included in the final legislation. Balderson’s support of the phase 3.5 relief package helped secure an additional $75 Billion in direct funding to hospitals and providers to confront the COVID-19 pandemic

Balderson also advocated for children’s hospitals and rural hospitals and providers to be given priority access to this funding, as their patients represent some of the most vulnerable Ohioans.
