Balderson, Walberg Introduce Resolution Recognizing May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Troy Balderson (OH-12) and Tim Walberg (MI-5) introduced a resolution this week to commemorate May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

Balderson, an avid motorcycle enthusiast and co-chair of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, has long been a champion for improved safety for motorcycle riders.

“Like hundreds of thousands of Ohioans, I love taking to the road on two wheels and experiencing the freedom that motorcycles provide,” said Balderson. “Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month encourages everyone to ride with caution, wear proper safety equipment, and embrace a culture of respect between all road users. By sharing the road, everyone can make it to their destination safely.”

Along with designating May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, the resolution:

  • Recognizes the contribution of motorcycles to the transportation mix;
  • Encourages motorcycle awareness by all road users;
  • Recognizes that motorcyclists have a right to the road and that all motorists should safely share the roadways; and
  • Encourages rider safety education, training, and proper gear for safe motorcycle operation.
