Memorial Wall Presented at Green Valley Golf Club

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Veterans from around the area were honored today at the Green Valley Golf Club.

A huge crowd gathered this morning behind the 10th tee box to see the Memorial Wall and to enjoy a wonderful ceremony. Congressman Troy Balderson, Retired General Mike McHenry, and the county commissioners were a few of many familiar faces in attendance. Green Valley PGA Head Professional, Steve Galloway said veterans deserve to be honored, and he felt the ceremony was a great way to help.

“Yeah, originally we started our Veterans Appreciation Foundation wanting to do more for the veterans in Muskingum County. Having the golf course out here, we wanted to do something special for the veterans out here at Green Valley Golf Club,” said Galloway.

The ceremony included the National Anthem and an unveiling of the Memorial Wall. Major Robert Paley was the guest speaker and the American Legion Honor Guard played Taps. Retired General Mike McHenry was the Master of Ceremonies, and said it was an honor to have the opportunity.

“What it means to me, is that Muskingum County totally appreciates the United States Military and their veterans from this area. We get to recognize those ones that paid the ultimate sacrifice or had a distinguished service career with their particular branch of the service, and this wall represents that,” McHenry added.

Galloway said there was about 150 people that made reservations to attend the ceremony, and he think even more people showed up.
