WASHINGTON – Congressman Troy Balderson (R-OH) introduced a resolution to recognize July 11^th as “Antique Motorcycle Enthusiast Day.” The resolution celebrates those who restore and ride antique motorcycles, what these motorcycles represent in American history, and the jobs supported by the restoration of these bikes.

“Restoring antique motorcycles is not only a passion for many Ohioans, it creates well-paying, highly-skilled jobs for people in all 50 states,” said Balderson. “A beloved icon of our country’s past, antique motorcycles represent the rich history of Americana. I can think of no better way to honor those who cherish these patriotic symbols than by designating the Saturday after the 4^th of July as ‘Antique Motorcycle Enthusiast Day.’”

Balderson speaks in Pickerington at the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame Open House and Bike Night this past Saturday.

Balderson, an avid motorcyclist and member of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, joined fellow riders at the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Hall of Fame in Pickerington this past Saturday to speak at the Open House and Bike Night and present the resolution. The AMA issued the following statement:

“The AMA thanks U.S. Rep. Troy Balderson, as well as Reps. Tim Walberg and Michael Burgess, for introducing this resolution to designate July 11 as ‘Antique Motorcycle Enthusiast Day’ and recognizing the value and importance of antique motorcycles and the Americans who preserve and celebrate them. These historic machines are an important part of American culture. The AMA is honored that Rep. Balderson presented this resolution at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame during our Open House and Bike Night, a museum and event celebrating those same Americans and motorcycles.”

Balderson’s resolution is cosponsored by Congressmen Michael Burgess (R-TX) and Tim Walberg (R-MI), co-chairs of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, who issued the following statement:

“With summer in full swing and more Americans on the road for travel it is important to remind everyone about sharing the road. By recognizing July 11, 2020, as ‘Antique Motorcycle Enthusiast Day,’ we are able to focus on the preservation, restoration, and operation of vintage motorcycles in the United States. Safety is essential as the country opens up from this pandemic. Thank you to Rep. Troy Balderson for helping lead this effort.”

Ross Metcalfe, President of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, issued the following statement in support of the resolution:
