Balderson Announces $8 Million Federal Investment in Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades for Rural Counties

WASHINGTON – Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved an $8 million investment for upgrades to electrical infrastructure in rural North Central Ohio, including Morrow and Marion counties.

Administered by the USDA's Rural Development program, funding will be used to support the Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative's efforts to expand connections to an additional 220 customers, upgrade more than 50 miles of line, and make improvements to various substations and metering points.

"This type of forward-looking investment strengthens the region's capacity to attract and retain good-paying jobs and ensures safe and reliable electrical infrastructure for families living in these vibrant communities," said Congressman Balderson

BACKGROUND

Funding for the USDA's Rural Development program was appropriated earlier this year as part of the 2018 Farm Bill.

Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative is a non-profit distributor, providing electric service to more than 8,000 customers along 1,333 miles of line across 10 counties.
